The "Old World" recipes were carried fourth in 1939 by Maksymilian (max) Kielbratowski and his 2 brothers. Born and raised in Poland, The brothers were displaced during war times and made their venture aboard "The Atlantic" to The docks of Halifax Nova Scotia. The brothers, overtime, honed their fathers sausage and meat preparing techniques

Later, the entrepreneurial brothers pushed for expansion/Started their own store fronts.

Max, along with his wife and children remained on Agricola Street under the name "The Original Brothers('51)"and carried on the Hardwood Smoking traditions to this day.

Max and his wife, Anne, had 6 sons and 1 daughter. Two of the sons (Twins, Peter & Andre) and their immediate families,  Continued on Agricola.

Which leads us to today,  2024, The twins have since retired and the next generation (their children) have taken the reigns, Teaching their young about the Legacy of the Smoke & the Spice.

Founded in 1951, The Original Brothers Meats stands as a testament to family entrepreneurship!   Proudly ingrained in Halifax's heritage for over half a century, Brothers is widely known for its outstanding pepperoni and home smoked products. The distinctive flavour and aroma imbedded by the authentic Maple hardwood smoke remain unmatched in today's modern electric smokehouses. Originating from "old style" techniques in Germany, passed on and refined in Poland, Then perfected in Nova Scotia. The art of cooking and smoking with Maple hardwood is a tradition cherished by many. Generations of Nova Scotians have savored the smokey flavours and unique spices infused into Brothers' smoked meats, making them an irresistible delight for all Canadians and visitors to enjoy! The legacy lives on through the many families who have continued to perfect the art of true hardwood smoking.
